Job Summary
The Vice President of Asset Management will lead the Asset Management division of a leading equipment leasing company. This position will be working closely with Sales, Operations, Credit, and Finance departments and will be empowered to make decisions and contribute directly to the growth of the business. This role is pivotal for ensuring the full lifecycle management of leased assets, with a strong focus on lease-end operations including customer notifications, equipment inspections, logistics coordination, conversion to rentals, remarketing, and resale. The VP will drive strategies to optimize asset recovery, maximize residual values, implement and ensure operational excellence across a diverse portfolio of forklifts, lift trucks, and other material handling equipment.
Key Job Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Align end of asset lifecycle planning with business growth, market trends, and customer needs.
Define and execute the asset management strategy for asset redeployment, conversion to rentals, wholesale, remarketing, and resale.
Execute residual pricing strategy and manage performance by collaborating with the Portfolio Management team, Sales, Finance, and lenders.
Team Leadership:
Build and manage a high-performing team of asset managers, logistics coordinators, and remarketing professionals.
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Lease-End Operations:
Oversee all lease maturity processes including end-of-term notifications, return scheduling, and condition assessments.
Ensure timely and cost-effective coordination of equipment pickups, inspections, and redeployment or resale.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, insurance, and regulatory requirements.
Asset Remarketing & Resale:
Lead the development of resale strategies for used forklifts and other material handling equipment through wholesale, dealer networks, auctions, and digital platforms.
Monitor market conditions to set competitive pricing and maximize asset recovery.
Vendor & Partner Management:
Manage relationships with third-party inspection firms, logistics providers, and remarketing partners.
Negotiate service-level agreements and ensure vendor performance aligns with company standards.
Data & Performance Management:
Utilize data analytics to monitor asset performance, forecast returns, and identify trends & opportunities.
Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks to track operational and financial performance.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
10+ years of leadership experience in asset management, equipment leasing, or fleet operations, preferably in the material handling or industrial equipment sector.
Deep understanding of the material handling equipment market, including asset valuation, lifecycle trends, and resale channels.
Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency with asset management systems, ERP platforms, and digital remarketing tools.
Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization.
Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications.
Attention to detail and able to identify potential issues.
Comfort with ambiguity.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize.
Able to properly communicate with internal and external business partners.
